The Tingira Australia Committee at their recent executive meeting approved the organisation to commence proceedings to stage the “JR REUNION” 2015. To be held in Sydney from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 November 2015.
“This will be the biggest navy reunion to be held in Sydney for many years, the Tingira team is excited and preparing to deliver a great week for our Members, said Tingira President Lance Ker.
“We have some restrictions not to dis similar to the last WA Leeuwin reunion in 2010. Facilities, services, accommodation and functions are a much higher cost with Sydney being one of the worlds most expensive cities! The Grand Gala dinner will again be limited to 1,000 seats, again the task will be slotting square pegs into round holes, however it will be a great event and we will work through the process.”
Treasurer Peter Stephenson has added one event that will bring a smile to many faces with the “Tingira Golf Challenge” to be held on Tuesday 10 November over 18 homes at The prestigious Moore Park Golf Club in Sydney.
The Grand Reunion Gala Dinner will be held at the only Central Sydney location that can seat 1,000 persons, the ‘Big Top Arena’ at Luna Park, Milsons Point, North Sydney. This will be held on the Thursday evening after the commemoration ceremony and recommissioning of the upgraded Tingira Memorial, Rose Bay on Wednesday 11 November at 11am.
A tour of Sydney Harbour with luncheon at the Naval Heritage Museum Garden Island will be another featured highlights of the week with many JR intakes having the evenings to hold their own reunions with fellow shipmates from their Junior Recruit days at HMAS Cerberus and Leeuwin.
On line bookings will commence in early November of 2014. Watch this space and pass on to your ship mates!
