25 April 2018, ANZAC Day – The Tingira Australia Association will again participate in the annual Anzac Day March across this nations capital city streets.
Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth will all see the Tingira Boys carry their banner with pride and march behind their flag.
“The Tingira Boys are coming together closer than ever as we become the next generation of older veterans. ANZAC Day is the new magnet that brings us to the frontline again” said Tingira President Lance Ker, from the decks of the former navy ship HMAS Tobruk where he is working on breakdown duties at present.
The oldest of the Tingira Boys are now in their mid 70’s, the youngest in late 40’s, meaning they as an association we will be around for a few more generations as they progress onwards and upwards as one of the few growing ex service associations in this country.
President Lance Ker will travel to Perth this year, marching for a first time with the WA Tingira Boys. Vice President, Stephen Beal, will lead the Sydney Tingira Boys down Elizabeth Street and then officiate with the Annual General Meeting after the march at the Primus hotel in Pitt Street, Sydney.
As the Tingira membership numbers continue to grow and the lads pull on their berets from what is usually a cool and in some instances a wet day, there is no prouder group of ‘young’ veterans than the former navy lads from HMAS Cerberus and HMAS Leeuwin, the “Tingira Boys”.
