NATIONAL TINGIRA CELEBRATIONS…
The AGM in Canberra last month on a cold Friday night has and come and gone but this one had a bit more ‘beef on the bone’ than the last few AGM’s we have held.
We had several local Tingira members turn up with great interest to see who had been elected.
President Lance Ker is happy to serve another three year term with Stephen Beal as his new Vice President.
In a period where volunteers are difficult to find, members David Rafferty and Darryn Rose offered their service to become part of the committee, thanks boys, very much appreciated. Myself, Peter Stephenson and Chris Parr will continue in our roles, we were all re-elected un-opposed.
General Business presented some new directions, 1. To find the original Tingira ‘Stonehaven Challenge Shield’ 2. Lobby the navy to rename one of the many new ships over the next decade “Tingira” 3. July 13 is our new ‘National Tingira Day’ with this being the first day of JRTS at HMAS Leeuwin in 1960. 4. Let’s have a big reunion at HMAS Leeuwin; either last day in present form or first day as the new development configuration, timing will determine the outcome.
That is enough to give us some direction over the next term on committee!
The Tingira birthday celebrations for 2017, watch the website. Plan is it’s going to be at a restaurant/cafe or bar in every State capital city on Friday 21st July with a national hook up by phone at approx. 8pm for a Happy Birthday celebration, that’s the plan, sounds like a party!
